So you are wondering if you should shave your persian cat? This is the same thought I had about a month or so ago. I would seriously reconcider this and I will show you why.

My persian, Furby, kept getting knots around her ears, under her arms, around the base of her tail, etc. She does NOT like to sit through brushing. I have tried giving treats as rewards, doing it while she is sleeping, sneaking some brushes in between pets...and on and on and on. Nothing works. So, I thought about keeping her hair short. Reasonable conclusion right? Hmm...well lets see.

I went to the walmart and bought a pair of clippers. Pet clippers were almost 80 dollars for the most inexpensive pair, so I bought a 40.00 pair of regular human hair clippers instead. They "worked" fine. I just didnt like the end result. And yes, all that hair is from that ONE cat.

This is what my husband and cat looked like AFTER the fact. He was tired and she was...well very very unhappy. Not to mention she looked retarded.

There was hair ALL over the room, me, my husband, and floating in the air. It took over an hour to trim her. My husband has now declared that I am NEVER and I repeat, never to wield a pair of hair clippers anywhere near our cat again.

It has been a month, and her hair is just now starting to look as if she has some. I think she finally has forgiven me.

I hope this helps.

What I have decided is to brush her daily, even if she complains. She will get over it much faster than sitting through an hour of this again. If cats can be embarrassed, I seriously think she was.
